 What is the most significant new or different aspect to your program this year?

“This is the first year that we have a new frame and measuring system.”

What are some of the more common career pathways your students take when they leave CPACTC?

“Automotive Collision, Refinishing, and Frame Technician.”

What training/unit do employers seek that helps students get their foot in the door?

“I-CAR Training, Certifications. This is because the school pays for these certifications for the students, and this allows them to save money in the long run.”

 What is some recent technology and/or trends in the profession with which students become familiar?

“Automotive glue on dent removal.”

 What unit/topic do students struggle with the most in your program? 

“Automotive Refinishing. This is so much information and personalized techniques.”

What advice would you give students who have completed your program?

“Keep your head on straight, and always take advantage of opportunities to learn.

 How many years have you been at CPACTC?

“I’ve been working at CPACTC for 11 years.”

 What was your experience before coming to CPACTC?

“I spent 10 years in the ACT field as a body tech and refinisher.”

Summarize what you learn in ACT in ONE SENTENCE (if you can).

“To put a vehicle back to pre-accident condition.”

 What is the hardest part of ACT?

“Finding your own technique and mastering it. Patience.”

 What is some recent technology you are learning to use in ACT that is specific to your profession?

“We are learning how to operate our new chief frame machine and measure system.”

 What is the most fun part of ACT?

“All of the hands-on activities. Time spent on the shop floor.”

 What is your plan for after high school?  BE SPECIFIC!

“I plan on joining the Army and becoming a Vehicle US Army Body shop Specialist.”

 What is going to be the highlight of the year in ACT?

“Finishing projects and seeing the final outcome, good and bad.”

 What are you proud of learning how to do in ACT?

“Refinishing. It can be extremely tedious.”

 Explain a typical day in ACT.

“We come into the classroom and spend about 20-25 minutes of time on the theory work. Then we get dressed and work on the shop floor on projects.”

 How is your program at CPACTC different from other classes you have had in the past?  Can you give some examples?

“There is a lot more hands-on activities and collaboration with classmates.”

 What advice would you give to a beginning Level 1 student who is just starting the program or to a student who is considering enrolling in ACT?

“Be an active learner and listener. Be willing to take constructive criticism.”
